Paris, 30 June 2026. The Global Youth Dialogue Among Civilizations Alliance (GYDCA), working with Valise Diplomatique Alliance, organised a cultural visit to the China Cultural Centre in Paris to see the exhibition “Confluences and Fusion”, devoted to the Yungang Grottoes and the part they played in exchange between civilizations along the ancient Silk Road.
The group brought together participants from a range of cultural and professional backgrounds — in line with GYDCA’s aim of building intercultural dialogue, mutual understanding and appreciation of world cultural heritage through education and exchange.
Discovering the Yungang Grottoes
The visit gave participants a chance to work through “Confluences and Fusion”, which sets out the historical weight, artistic richness and cultural legacy of the Yungang Grottoes, among China’s most striking heritage sites.
Sculptures, historical artefacts, multimedia installations and educational displays showed how the Grottoes came to stand for cultural exchange and dialogue, carrying centuries of interaction between civilizations along the Silk Road.
What emerged was a picture of how artistic traditions, religious influences and cultural encounters combined into a shared heritage that still feeds intercultural understanding today.
An Immersive Cultural Experience
A high point of the visit was the Music Cave, an immersive installation using light, sound and digital technology to recreate the atmosphere and artistic heritage of the Yungang Grottoes.
The installation gave participants an unusual angle on Chinese cultural traditions while showing what new technologies can do for preserving and presenting heritage to future generations.
Dialogue Through Culture
Beyond the exhibition itself, the visit opened up room for exchange among participants from different backgrounds, encouraging dialogue, cultural curiosity and mutual learning.
Bringing students, young professionals, diplomats and civil society members into the same space put GYDCA’s commitment into practice: strengthening international cooperation, marking cultural diversity, and building bridges between civilizations through shared cultural experience.

Building Bridges Between Civilizations
Through cultural visits of this kind, GYDCA continues to pursue its mission of promoting dialogue among civilizations — encouraging intercultural encounters, building mutual understanding, and strengthening international cooperation through culture, education and youth engagement.
The visit to the China Cultural Centre in Paris showed again that cultural heritage is not only a record of history but a working bridge between peoples, traditions and civilizations, in pursuit of a more peaceful and inclusive world.
